ScenPro
caDSR Training

ScenPro has been a leader in developing new curriculums and effective training for the National Cancer Institute Center for Bioinformatics (NCICB). Effective training provides adult students with:

  • Measurable learning objectives
  • A defined curriculum
  • Detailed training materials
  • Reference documents
  • Instructors who understand the key concepts of adult education

We worked with the NCICB to develop a comprehensive training program for the Cancer Data Standards Repository (caDSR). caDSR courses are designed to help trainees meet role-based requirements for using caCORE tools and developing caDSR content. Role descriptions and course requirements are immediately accessible on the caDSR Training website in a role/curriculum matrix.

ScenPro conducts weekly web-based training to help students meet the following learning objectives:

  • Describe how caDSR fits into the overall caCORE Infrastructure.
  • Identify the three primary components of the caCORE Infrastructure.
  • Discuss the importance of the ISO/IEC 11179 Standard in relation to metadata curation.
  • Identify when to use the CDE Browser.
  • Identify when and how to use the Enterprise Vocabulary Service (EVS).
  • Create well-formed metadata.
  • Discuss metadata business rules.
  • Create metadata from either forms or UML models.
  • Identify the four steps of the SDK process.
  • Identify when to use the Sentinel Tool
  • Identify when to use FormBuilder

We maintain the caDSR Training website and Training ListServe, manage training session enrollment and attendance, and work with NCICB experts to identify and develop new curriculum content. The latest version of the NCICB training curriculum is available online and includes course materials, reference documents, overall learning objectives, and links to related NCICB resources.

Future plans include new courses and the development and refinement of new training roles and role-associated tools, including the "Curation and Best Practices Manual" now under development within NCICB.
