ScenPro participates in Virtual Training at two levels:
- Web-based training of software and processes, and
- Assessment of Warfighters in Virtual Environments
Web-based Training of Software and Processes
In part due to our use of the Scenario-based Engineering Process, ScenPro has the knowledge and skills necessary to produce and deliver web-based training of software and processes. A recent example is the web-based training for the NCI’s Center for Bioinformatics. In support of their development of a national cancer clinical trials data repository, ScenPro has created the content and delivered training on:
- NCI Bioinformatics Infrastructure
- NCI Bioinformatics Applications
- NCI Bioinformatics Metadata Curation
In a typical virtual training session ScenPro would schedule a web conference service (such as Centra or Live Meeting) and a concurrent teleconference for between 5 and 30 participants. ScenPro personnel would lead the training session by running the web conference service. Participants would have opportunities for hands-on experience, questions, and feedback.
Assessment of Warfighters in Virtual Environments
The U.S. military is revolutionizing warfighter readiness through training in virtual environments. Robust training exercises, based on modeling and simulation in virtual environments, are helping warfighters prepare for encounters with an elusive and adaptable opposing force.
Realistic, scenario-based training challenges warfighters to adapt and respond to varying degrees of uncertainty, surprise, and threat under hostile conditions. The metrics collected during virtual training exercises assess a soldier’s strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement. After action reviews provide immediate feedback for the warfighter and an important indicator of warfighter readiness for those in command.
ScenPro has developed the most robust and capable system for assessing warfighters in a virtual environment. This system is based on the automated capture and analysis of PDU traffic in a DIS/HLA environment. This system generates automated trainee assessments based on user-defined rules. The types of assessments supported by the system include:
- Tactics
- Mission Performance
- Decision Making
- Situational Awareness
ScenPro’s virtual environment assessment tools are being used on a daily basis at the Ft. Benning Soldier Battle Lab by both trainers and researchers.
